WIP Watch: Day 37
I’m at a curious stage of excited burnout. At this point, between running write-ins and my day job, I haven’t had a day off work since October. I anticipated the burnout, even if I hate it and am desperate to find a day off soon. The closest is probably two weeks away. But don’t worry, after November I have a full week scheduled for recovery time.
Though I also have an unfortunate habit of collecting work that I only manage to find time to do while I’m supposed to be on “vacation.” Will I actually get that week off?Probably not, but I will have a day in there for sure. I’m already choosing the book I’ll read on that day off. A classic or a romance? Maybe non-fiction this time… it’s currently the light at the end of my tunnel because I don’t anticipate having any time during November to read a book cover-to-cover. I have one book I’m reading a few pages at every time I manage to find two minutes but that isn’t the typical way I enjoy reading. I like to block off large chunks of time, perhaps even an entire Sunday, to read a book.
In the meantime, I have a book to write! I have to drag myself to start because I’m so tired at this point in the game, but once I sit down and force myself to write for five minutes straight, the story manages to take over and pull me along. At the moment, I’m a bit more than halfway through that half-an-outline, meaning that I’m almost certain this book will be way too long and need to be cut back during edits. That is the typical way I write, however, usually with a document of deleted scenes afterward. You don’t want to know how many I amassed for the Ladies of Passion series while I was getting those stories just right.
The book is exciting! I’ll try to find a moment to sit down at some point to read a bit more for you but in the meantime, Alice and her antics are carrying me through this murder investigation. It’s really getting good!
I’m off to write some more, because it is that kind of month…
